Making my dreams come true, step by step

Yes, Mr Deer has to go into storage! Too personal…

A lot of exciting things are happening in my life at the moment, and I’m trying my hardest not to let all the amazing changes stress me out. As I’m still feeling a bit worse for wear, it is imporant that I keep my calm and don’t overdo things. The changes are really exciting and much wanted, though, so I think my childlike excitement and sense of adventure will more than cancel out any stress that is involved!

The first step – and the biggest change – that is happening is that I’m selling my much loved two bedroom flat. From the moment I first walked through the door at the open house, I have loved this flat and it is hard to say good bye to it. But I’m ready for a new chapter of my life, and unfortunately I can’t take real estate with me in my removal van. For a while I considered letting it out, but if I ever come back to live in Bergen, I’ll want a larger flat/house with a garden, so it’s better I bite the bullet and sell it now, while the market is still good.

In order to get the highest price possible for the flat, I want it to look its best. This involves getting rid of most of my belongings to make the flat seem as airy and spacious as possible. I have a week to pack up 70 % of my wardrobe, 50 % of my books and lots of random belongings, before a removal van arrives to put it into storage. It will be really strange not having access to a large part of my wardrobe – and it might make creating blog outfits more of a challenge – but I’ve decided that the glass is half full: I’ll soon become really good at creating new outfits with the few garments I have left. Which, let’s face it, is still 2-3 times the amount of clothes any non-fashion-obsessed woman has!

Thinking about all the cleaning and painting that needs to be done before next Friday, is another matter all together. Do you know that I have 15 – fifteen! – windows to clean? That’s a lot of windows, but they bring amazing light and sun warmth into the flat, and is one of the main reasons why I love it here.

Now I’ve got wrap up this post and get back to packing. I have a pile of wool sweaters waiting for a box – and another huge pile of handmade and Dale of Norway ski sweaters waiting to be posted on eBay…

And this is today’s packing outfit – all about comfort:
