Jo Malone perfumes
While in London, a dear friend sent me a shopping SMS, as we do when one of us is travelling and the other one desires something from that location. My friend wanted a particular Jo Malone scent that was only available at Selfrigdes. I was more than happy to oblige. After all, who can resist visiting Selfridges, to me the most beautiful department store in Europe?
I have always been intrigued by Jo Malone and didn’t mind have a closer look at her products. I like the minimal design of the logo and the packaging, and also have respect for companies that base their products on natural ingredients. Even better when they name their products with the actual names of the ingredients, so we consumers can easily select the products we might enjoy and also remember their names!
After the shop assistant had me smell a range of scent that I didn’t enjoy, I had a go myself and first picked Orange blossom. Divine! Then I had a sniff at White jasmine & mint and I was hooked. But which one should I get? Now the shop assistant showed great initiative and suggested I layered the two scents. Naturally, I have heard about this layering business, but never done it myself, as my own prefumes are too rich to layer on top of each other.
Layering these cleaner scents were another business, though. The result was one of the best scent I have ever had! It reminds me of Byredo’s Gypsy Water, only more citrusy.
Off I walked out of Selfridge’s with my friend’s scent in addition to two of my own – and a couple of samples for my handbag. That sales girl sure knew how to sell.
