Clever bathroom storage

I’m probably not the only person who struggles with a small bathroom with next to no storage. In my bathroom I have one cupboard underneath the sink and a small one next to the mirror. This setup means that I need to store beauty products and other smaller items on the large shelves in the lower cupboard. In order to see — and be able to reach without knocking over everything else — my products, I needed to come up with a practical storage solution.

The answer was to purchase a selection of storage bins that are easy to pull out from the cupboard. From Ikea, these white Variera bins have a handle, making them easy to grip and pull out. I have three bigger ones where I’ve sorted items by type. A smaller one holds all my daily makeup and fits perfectly on the sink for application. A quick and cheap solution that works really well!

Another challenge was the lack of shelving in the shower. Since the walls are tiled, I was reluctant to drill holes and hang permanent shelving — that would enable water to leak behind the tiles.

I came across handy self-adhesive boxes from Lucky Duck — they have two suction cups that hold them in place. Inititally, I was reluctant to get these — I remembered them as falling down all the time! — so I only bought one. The shop assistant told me to ensure the cups and the wall were squeaky clean and DRY. No wonder those things in the past never stayed up — I thought the cups were supposed to be moist for better suction!

The trial box sucked on to the wall for its life — and was basically impossible to move! — so I bought two more for the shower and one to hold the lingerie bags next to the washing machine.

Also, I purchased two wall hooks and one tooth brush holder, all in turquise. All items have hung for months and are almost annoyingly hard to move.
