Last week, my friend B kindly invited me to a delicious dinner with her family of five, followed by Storebrand’s annual Christmas concert at Frogner Church. With very full stomachs from the yummy food, we heard the beautiful tunes of violinist Arve Tellefsen and the angelic voices of Nidarosdomen Boys Choir. Boy, could those boys — and men — sing!
The concert managed to finally put me in the warm and fuzzy Christmas spirit — you now that happy and excited feeling that you get every December, in quiet anticipation of lots of delicious Christmas food, hours spent doing very little with you loved ones, watching heart-warming family films on TV and maybe finding that little something that you’d really like to receive wrapped under the Christmas tree? Though already mid life, I’m not embarassed to say that I love receiving gifts. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy or expensive, I just love the act of admiring the gift wrap, slowly removing the ribbon and paper and being really excited about what’s hiding inside. Pure joy!
Since the carol singing, I’ve further strenghted my holiday spirit by hanging the Christmas wreath on my front door, placing the advent chandelier in the window sill and having Santa’s family of four guarding my fireplace.
This night was actually the first time I took this Cos skirt for a spin and its soft wool — plus the incredibly warm tights, which I’ll tell you more about tomorrow — kept me toasty warm. On my feet are Hunter’s lined wedge rain boots. They are a brilliant hybrid of everything you need on your feet in an Oslo winter. Except they are ridiculously slippery…
