Compliments to the stars

Tall girl's fashion // Stars & grey

This outfit was worn out on the town last weekend and it proved quite effective: At TGIF, a man came over to our table solely to compliment me on the way I looked. It was the first time I have received a compliment from a seemingly sober gentleman who wasn’t coming on to me and it really made my evening. Heck, I’m still happy about it! Being taller than most men, my experience is that the opposite sex normally prefer someone shorter (and blonder) that they can protect, pick up or push over or something, so this incident was really out of the ordinary.

Quite possibly he liked my tight skirt or maybe he’s really into stars and astronomy? Or perhaps, like me, he liked how well navy looks with grey and how the wider top is balanced out by the narrow skirt?!? Needless to say, I’m planning to repeat this outfit again pretty soon, possibly even in the same bar, to see if it has the same effect. In fact, I might never change.

  • Yes! Very helpful. Thanks for the input.

  • Out of the blue compliments from seemingly normal people are the best! Your musings on what aspect of your outfit he liked made me laugh. I’m a big fan of this outfit since I really love grey and navy together. In fact, those were my two neutrals when I chose 4 colors for my Project Remix “build a wardrobe” challenge a couple of years ago.

In other news, I’ve been wanting a Rebecca Minkoff cross-body for awhile and was actually looking at this one the other day. Are you able to fit all of your necessities in it for a full day out or do you use it more as a special occasion bag? How does the quality seem?

I aim to please, Beth! 😉 I haven’t thought about grey and navy looking great together before, but now I’m hooked, and am actually wearing a different outfit in the same two colours today. Can never have too much of a good thing, right?

Since I¨m renowned for bringing with me the kitchen sink to work, the cross-body wouldn’t be large enough for a work bag for me. I use it for running errands or going out, when I only need my (huge) wallet, phone and a few other things, but there’s plenty of space for this. She also has a smaller version of this bag, which I guess would strictly be a going out bag. I have to say, I’m super happy with this bag, in particular considering I paid half price for it online at the end of last summer, despite it being a model that is carried forward. I hope this helps!
