On Thursday, night my new camera lense and I headed to Gallery Fineart to check out Norwegian jewellery designer Camilla Prytz‘s new collection. The launch party was organised like a one-night pop-up shop at the gallery with plenty of champagne and photo opportunities.

Originally a glass artist and having launched several successful jewellery collections in glass, in her new collection Prytz specialises in necklaces and bracelets made of silver and gold plated silver. A large part of the collection consists of word necklaces, reminding me of the infamous Carrie necklace that luckily was retrieved in the lining of Carries handbag. I’ve secretly wanted my own name necklace ever since this episode, but with a unique name (without the -e at the end) it will sadly have to be custom made. Maybe one day…
Prytz also uses symbols from the current pop culture in her jewellery, like lion heads (think Kenzo’s sweatshirts), butterflies, handcuffs(!) and flowers. She’s most famous for her enamel evil eye bracelets and necklaces, and she also does pretty enamel flowers, stars, burning hearts and angel wings.
Read more about Prytz and see her complete collection on her website (which is in English).
Pretty photographs of the pieces were printed on A4 paper and covering the walls. The pictures showed the intricate details of the jewellery, each piece drawn by hand before it is made into silver.
