The Windswept Warrior

Tall Girl's Fashion // The Windswept Warrior

A few days ago, I used the photograph above to illustrate my humurous post on tall girls’ everyday challenges (like bumping your head into ceiling signs at the grocery store) and today it’s all about the outfit. As you can probably deduce from my smile in this photograph, I think the motif is terribly amusing myself. The guard was really sweet when I asked if I could take a photograph with her and I felt like a giant standing there next to her in all my 183 cm/six feet and 10 cm/4 inch heels. I bet she could both outrun me and throw me around on the ground, though, with her training! And let’s not forget that she’s carrying a gun…

This warrior getup was the last outfit Lise and I shot at the fortress and I was getting pretty cold from the wind — you can see the damage it did to my hairdo! I think the adrenalin kept me going, though, as I didn’t feel cold until I got home.

I have been getting plenty of wear out of these white trousers from Gina Tricot and at their cheap price they are basically a write-off already. I love when bargains turn into wardrobe favourites! What I love the most about these trousers is also their biggest concern — the large paper-like pleats at the waist. Pleats are not ideal for someone like me who carry their weight around the middle, so I make sure that I pair them with a tight and cropped top to balance out the volume. Wearing high heels also helps to make me appear leaner.

To play up the crispness of the white trousers I paired them with a warrior-style top (also worn here) and a fitted denim jacket, in addition to some chunky gladiator sandals. I felt right in place at the fortress, ready to take on any challenges thrown my way!

I’d love to know if you have a favourite garment that you know is not ideal for your body type, but you still wear it. What do you do to make it work for your shape?

Thanks, Alice! And yes, those cheap favourites are the best! You have to be critical about the fabric, though, as some of the cheaper ones are both itchy and easily wrinkles. I’ll be there at next link up! xoxo Anett
