Today is a day to celebrate, as I fit into my new trousers! Everybody who’s anybody will tell you never to buy clothes that you have to slim yourself into, but I’m sure I’m not the only person who is guilty of doing this. I mean, I try not to, as the garment in question might never fit right and would then be a complete waste of money.
It has happened, however, that I fall in love with something that doesn’t come in a larger size (hello Zara and your small size runs) and I know that I’m not at my ideal weight at that particular moment. If I think I can’t live without said garment and am on my way to getting fit, I’ll ignore the voice of reason in my head and pick up the piece anyway.
Sometimes this strategy works brilliantly, like with these flared jeans from Zara! After close to 40 days of shredding they fit like a glove and are also the perfect length for my long legs. And aren’t those buttons on the pockets really cool?
To play up the 1970s vibe of the jeans, I paired them with a white peasant blouse and a psychedelic print tote. I bet I look like a taller version of my mum when she was in the twenties, being a cool mum and rocking her flares and bell-sleeved tops!
