A while back I came across the Swedish jewellery brand Edblad in Eger Karl Johan and immediately I was intrigued by its amazing design-to-cost ratio. The jewellery is priced at Nok 149-499 with most products priced around 249-299. That’s a great price range for such cool, contemporary design!
Since the company was founded in 2006 by the couple Cathrine and Hans Edblad, Edblad’s jewellery is available in retailers in over ten countries and they also ship internationally from their online store.
While I haven’t come across their clothing and home furnishings here in Oslo, these products share the same less-is-more design expression and reasonable pricing as their jewellery line. How great aren’t these wool ponchos? And look at the cool leather espadrille-brogues? And let’s not forget the minimalist looking products for the kitchen, espesially the Japanese-inspired Zen china range.
The couple is motivated by a willingness to craft and a strong passion for design, paired with a desire to create sustainable products both regarding quality and design. They also do their bit for a good cause, designing for a number of charitable organisations, including Red Cross.
So far, I’ve collected three pieces of jewellery by the brand — a matching set of matt brass plated ring and bangle called Julie (and the matching earrings are on my shopping list), in addition to a mixed metal Star bracelet (sold out, but this Charm bracelet is similar). You can see me wearing my square brass set here and here. I’d love to get my hands on a matching Star necklace, as well as the golden Palm necklace, bangle and earring set. This marble sphere ring is also pretty fantastic.
Handy, as now my friends know what to get me for Christmas and my birthday! And if they are in doubt as to what to give their better half, Edblad also has a great selection of jewellery for men.
