Pretty Grey

Tall Girl's Fashion // Styling grey shorts professionally

Today’s goal is to inspire you to wear shorts to work, if you get your hands on an elegant pair like these from DAY. For me and many other tall girls — OK, women — our legs as our best assets and some of us show them off any chance we get. I was going to say that you’ve just got to get used to me flashing my legs, but then I realised that autumn is just around the corner and my legs are soon going to be tucked away in tights and trousers for the winter. I’ve got to get them out there while I still can!

To contrast with the more masculine style of the shorts, I added a floral-print blouse in greys and greens and did the famous half-tuck to look suitably nonchalant. Feminine and professional, ready for a hard day at the office.

And talking about the office: I’ve been sitting by my computer all day, hard at work, while the rain has been pouring down outside. A glimpse of the sun through the dark clouds is like the universe smiling encouragingly at me, telling me that I’m doing well. Good things come to those who wait — and work hard.

PS // Check out how I styled this shirt with navy shorts last summer.

What a gorgeous top and loving your fun purse!

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you Thursday.

    • Thank you, Alice! I’ll skip the linkup this week, as I’m away on holiday, but I’ll be back next week. xoxo Anett

  • That blouse is gorgeous! And the half-tuck, by the way, has saved my wardrobe! Once I discovered this little belly-masking trick, I started wearing tops again that I thought might never look good. Total confidence boost as well when I half tuck!

    • I completely agree about the half-tuck hiding things that look better hidden. A big hurrah for finally displaying a “flat” tummy! 😉 xoxo Anett

  • This is my kinda outfit! Love sleeveless shirts with shorts!

    • Me too! It kind of dresses up the shorts so they feel slightly more professional. Thanks for stopping by! xoxo Anett

  • I’ve been toying with the idea of buying my first pair of shorts in years. We shall see if I ever find the perfect pair since I’m a very fussy fit. I love how you styled these shorts! Great outfit inspiration!

    • Thanks, Beth! Now is the right time to invest in shorts, as they’re all on sale, so it’s less of a risk. A pair in cotton are great holiday wear, as your legs don’t stick together in the heat, like they do under skirts… 😉 xoxo Anett

  • I love how you’ve styled those shorts – they look great on you! I very rarely wear shorts, why would I when I have a million skirts?! But you’ve inspired me to look for a pair. X Allison @ http://www.thetallmamastyle.blogspot.com

    • Thanks, Allison! I think you definitely should give shorts a go — they come in so many different lengths and widths, you are sure to find a pair that you like. Wearing really wide culotte-like shorts is almost like wearing a skirt anyway! With shorts you can put your legs in the air without anyone seeing your knickers. I’m just sust saying… 😉 xoxo Anett

      • Love it!! I didn’t think of that! I’m always in fear of a strong wind when I’m wearing a full skirt. I once had an embarrassing moment with a strong wind, full skirt and the members stadium at the Sydney Cricket Ground… but that’s a story for another time! x Allison

        • Haha, that sounds hilarious — in hindsight! My friend bikes to work and she wears bicycle shorts under her skirt to stay decent… xoxo Anett

          • I always wear bicycle shorts under skirts! Chasing two young boys around all day, I never know when my skirt will go a’flyin’!

          • Haha, I can see the advantage in that dress code, Shelbee! You never know when you might end up climbing a tree, right? xoxo Anett
