I notice that the grey weather we’re currently experiencing is having an impact on how I dress — I automatically reach for black and grey, and am unconsciously avoiding colour. Hopefully, I’ll snap out of this drab mood next week sometime, but until this happens you’ll just have to bear with me.
This black and white bandage skirt is a new favourite in my wardrobe. It’s ultra stretchy and looks chic while also allowing me to take my abnormally loooong strides and do wild gymnastics without feeling uncomfortable. It’s made by the talented Norwegian designer Berit Hjelde, whose catwalk show I attended at Oslo Fashion Week back in August. I’ve collected a few of her designs and I’m in love with them all.
I played up the sportiness of the skirt and added pieces that were sporty and rough, like my Doc Martens boots, a white faux leather sweater and a biker jacket. To ensure I stayed warm, I added the fur waistcoat on top. Since the outfit is very narrow at the bottom, the bulky layers on top balance out my figure.
As I’m writing this I’m chilling out after packing for a long weekend in Bergen. I’ll catch the train tomorrow morning and have brought with me eight hours of entertainment, including a notebook and pens, a novel and my headphones. Knowing myself, I’ll probably end up listening to music and daydreaming while the better part of Norway flies past my window. Bliss.
While in Bergen I have an agenda packed with fun stuff. Meeting up with friends and introducing my boyfriend to my mum are my priorities. But let’s face it, the most imporant thing is whether Nelly the sheltie (mum’s dog) will approve of my man! She doesn’t like strangers and tried to bite the hand of the last person who approached her (to her defence, the man startled her and she thought she had to protect herself. I assume nobody had told him not to approach a dog you don’t know). If she immediately likes my boyfriend, he’s a winner! I think I’d better give him some dog treats…
Though the weather in Bergen is its usual nasty rain storms, I’ve packed lots of great outfits that I’ll hopefully get someone to shoot. I’ve even packed some colour!
Have a great weekend and see you on Monday!
