How To Stay Warm & Chic

Tall Girl's Fashion // A long waistcoat keeps you warm

When it’s cold outside it’s all about layering for me. I don’t want to stop wearing skirts and dresses just because the temperature has dipped below zero degrees C, but I hate being cold. And I’m a bit of a frosty person, to say the least. That’s when this long wool waistcoat comes in handy.

As I automatically wear a lot of greys and blacks in the winter — my outfits in the last couple of weeks is clear evidence of that! — I find that I can pair this waistcoat with just about any outfit that I put on if I want to fight the cold. I’ve realised that if I just keep my body toasty and warm, my arms can take a lighter layer.

I’ve experimented with waistcoats that are shorter — just below the bum and hip-length — and in different colours, but this longer black one is the one I reach for again and again.

So if you are in the market to invest in a warm and chic winter layer, I’d recommend going for a coat-length waistcoat in a wool blend. It’ll look good with skirts and trousers of any length, while the shorter ones take a lot more planning to make work. Choose a colour that matches the clothes that you wear the most, and you’ll be set on those cold days when you want to look feminine and chic, but also stay warm.

See you on Friday!
