I’ve Got The Blues

Tall Girl's Fashion // Styling culottes with a fitted turtleneck

Today’s post is a tad late in coming up because I was initially planning on running a post on perfume, but it has taken me forever to locate the correct photographs.

While on holiday, I’m reknown for shooting lots and lots of photographs, then never getting around to actually edit them. I try to give my folders logical names to make for an easy search, but sometimes my holiday photos get mixed in with blog photos and I can’t find anything. Oh well, I promise you a really good post on perfume and the French Riviera on Friday!

Today you’ve got to make do with this outfit — shot outside in the snow, no less. Hurrah for frozen toes and remote controls! The latter explains why I had to shoot the full figure photos on my balcony. Frustratingly Funnily enough the remote worked just fine on my next outfit…

However, let us not dwell on my problems — they probably just helped build my character! — as I’m really happy about the outfit that I’m wearing. Really, what’s not to love about mixing several shades of blues and purples in the same outfit?

My boyfriend gave me this Oleana silk and merino wool blend scarf as a gift months before we started going out and I love how great it looks with this coat. The pale blue turtleneck tops off the colour medley, or the blue ‘n purple cake, so to speak.

Culottes are really not for the coldest of days, as the width of the legs makes for drafty thighs, but they’re perfect for warmed winter days. I always wear them with a more fitted top and coat to balance out the volume of the legs.

I believe culottes are the perfect trousers shape for us tall women since they are already cropped — nobody’s going to say that they look too short on you, are they? Tall or short, have you tried them out yet and if so, are you hooked?

PS // Last time I wore these culottes on the blog I wore them with a printed silk blouse and a leather jacket. The purple coat has been worn with a mint top and navy trousers, as well as flared jeans and a mauve leather jacket.
