Wishlist shopping is a new concept that I’m trying out at a time in my life when I’ve got less cash than is ideal. Rather than shopping on impulse, I’m striving to consciously fill an actual hole in my closet with something specific that I know I’ll wear in a range of different outfits for years to come. It’s all about shopping wisely.
I’ll feature more trendy items as well as wardrobe staples, give you shopping tips and show you how I styled my new purchase. Chances are that some of the garments will also show up in future Styled 3 ways posts!
Ever since I saw pictures from Isabel Marant’s AW2015 collection I’ve wanted a chunky raglan-sleeved white sweater with black stripes. Don’t get me wrong, I already have a few iterations of striped sweaters and tops in my wardrobe, but not a white chunky sweater with black stripes. Also, one can never have too many striped sweaters, just ask the French!
Striped black and white tops are basically a neutral and can be styled with anything — they look especially great with other prints. Also keep in mind that stripes are huge for summer and next winter.
I found my dream sweater one day I stopped by Lindex to window shop. To ensure the sleeves would be long enough after the first wash, I bought size Large. The sweater is available in three colour combinations — black/white, white/black and navy/white. I chose the white as I think it looks so cool styled with an all white outfit, like a winter ice queen.
If you want your sweater to look more like Isabel Marant’s, simply add three black buttons along each raglan seam!
Here are a few affordable striped chunky sweaters I found in international chain stores around the web, in addition to the original (extremely expensive option) from Isabel Marant. Mine is no. 2:
To style my new sweater for a warmish winter day running errands, I combined practical and cool. My captain’s hat from my initial Wishlist to reality post was a must — it’s been on my head every other day since I got it and is perfect for adding a bit of warmth on a chilly or snowy day. Then I added pale tan culottes, black boots and a black down waistcoat. I chose a tan handbag to play into the colour of the trousers and warm up the outfit.
Next I’m going to team the sweater with an all white outfit. Once it has stopped snowing AND the snow has melted away, that is. Patience is a virtue.
I’d love to know, which item is at the top of your wardrobe wishlist? Something new for spring, perhaps?
